SEIU is a labor union that represents caregivers in Washington State, including nurses, home aides, and social workers. As the senior designer in this newly formulated role, it was crucial for me to build strong communication and collaboration throughout the organisation in order to assess the scope of need. My collaborative and empathic approach helped to build trust around embedding design into their process, and aligned with the mission of the labor union.
I was responsible for designing any kind of communications that the various teams would require for member and legislator communications related to the current political climate. Brochures, posters, mailers, social graphics and web banners were all part of their comms and I worked with the teams to help them understand which mediums would be most effective for their purposes.
While my time with them ended due to my move to Berlin, my contribution was effective in SEIU creating a permanent internal role for a designer.
