After relocating to Berlin and a chance meeting with someone with a shared passion for live music events and connecting communities, I became a co-founder of Based Global, a crypto start-up looking to disrupt the live event ticketing market through blockchain based tickets. The concept would minimise scalping and price gouging, give independent artists a platform to market themselves securely through our EOS based blockchain and have opportunities for event attendees to connect and meet up. The idea garnered interest from a seed funder in Iconiq Holding, which led to our participation in the Iconic Lab incubator group.
As Chief Product Officer I handled all strategy related to our branding, marketing and product offering as well as all UX and UI design work. This included building a brand, designing the app, website and marketing materials from the ground up. Constant collaboration with our team helped inform my design process and decide what features we would launch with. Our incubator journey included intensive training at the Frankfurt School of Finance on the business of startups, building savvy pitch decks, creating marketing materials and pitching to VC clients.
While I ultimately chose to refocus on charity sector design work, my time within the crypto currency realm provided useful insights into start-ups and what it takes to push a product forward to release.
